I was doing this a few times at the end of last season. I don't know if anyone is interested in doing this. Normally I would do it just after the match ends. It doesn't mean anything though. The middy just pick someone at random each week.

I vote for Tuck, looked really solid and hit some excellent passes

I agree. Also, whether it was down to him playing or not, it allowed Croydon to play Tom Edmonds in position, getting a much better performance out of him. I hope we see a few games from Tuck.

Me too. Looks as though from todays Middy that Croydon has offered him some sort of assistant coach role in an effort to keep him. Fingers crossed.................but there is a hint that he has Conference offers, so not looking too hopeful

He wants to ask himself, is it better to be a big fish in a (with respect) small pond, or a small fish in a big pond? Unfortunately in football most players opt for the latter!

Hmm. Delusions of grandeur or always thinking they can keep going up a level.........

With all due respect dazzer and rwe, it isn't about ponds and fish, most players would opt for the higher level to play with better players,to bigger gates and usually on nicer pitches. Any player with any self respect should want to play at as high a level as they can, ironically if you have the ability, fitness level and a lot of luck it is easier to play at a higher level.

I agree with what you are saying, and in his case what you say will probably be correct. But I have seen a lot of younger players head for a higher level of football, spend week in week out on the bench or unpicked and ultimately end up playing at an even lower level than where they started off as a result. Moving to a higher level of football isn't ALWAYS the best way to progress your football career, although it is an obvious aspiration of most players.

Which is why rwe I included the three magical words "lot of luck" because more often than not it's not about ABILITY,commitment or physical fitness, it is about your face fitting and the vagaries of football managers and their idea of what constitutes a good player. See the WFC forum, on paper, allegedly WFC should be a fairly strong outfit, unfortunately for them football is played on grass.

A good solid player in the past but has been struggling with injury and is probably past his sell by date.

Grow up you lot. Why do many excellent players go to Chelsea to, if their lucky, sit on the bench.
It's all about the money.
There are a few exceptions those that want to play week after week but not many.

T o m given the subject in this thread I fail to see your point, are you inferring that anyone has or would join BHTFC for the money,"get real". I would imagine any player signed for BHTFC is here to hopefully play football, in the case of the dreaded Chelski is it very relevant that the league champions get something like 18 winners medals???

I think T O M probably meant the opposite ie players will leave the Hill for a higher level as there is going to be more money in it - even if they end up with a peripheral role. Nothing wrong with being ambitious, but I still think a lot of players would be happier if they took a dose of realism - especially those that are getting on a bit and have already had a go at higher levels and not really made it. Still - easy for me to say, I was total crap............and never got as much as a free sarnie for playing (in fact most teams wouldn't have let me play if I paid them.............................now there's a thought ?)

Anyway...this was a thread about a man of the match from an average quality game a few weeks ago. Let's continue this argument after the next home game!
