Honest and committed players who want to play for BHTFC, yeh right!. You had one, top scorer and player of the year last season, joint top scorer this season and then unceremoniously dumped by GC with no explanation just a pack of lies. Man manager he aint, football coach he aint.

I for 1 havnt been for awhile mainly due to family commitments. However, when i do feel like going i tend to look at the reports of the previous games, which tend to be dull and drab, then to be honest, just cant be bothered to get my backside off the bar stool in the Mill and toodle down. Then if by magic the games that i intended to go to turn out to be thrillers and full of excite, only for the follow week, the game turns out to be dull and drab again. A little like a roller coaster, up and down, round and round. Im sure that i will attend a few more games this season, but have to check on the family commitments along with the work rota. UP THE HILL

For me, supporting BHTFC hasn't felt "stale" just because we are a mid to lower half team. The will to support the Hill has only ever dropped off when the players who we know are very capable, turn out as though they couldn't care less. This said, I can't remember the last time this happened in 2 consecutive games. Since Christmas the downright dismal performances (at home, I only get to see home games) have been rarities, and my need to support the club has always been renewed in the following game.
All credit to GC, I think since Christmas he has done what the supporters wanted. He seems to have changed things in exactly the way the supporters on this messageboard have requested. There may be some way to go, but I feel current performances are perfectly acceptable, and I appreciate the constraints the club faces. I don't know if these apparent changes have been a result of the comments he has read on here (and took offence to allegedly) or whether they have purely been a reaction to the possibility of relegation, but in a way it doesn't matter.
I personally don't need to see BHTFC competing for a promotion this season, next season or for a very long time, as long as I get some excitement, laughs and get to see some committed football in at least 4 out of 5 games I go to watch. Credit to BHTFC, this year I have seen all of these things in 4 out of 5 of the games I have watched.
I would like to echo the comments in the other post, and say well done to the players and staff at BHTFC for what I think has, so far, been a very respectable finish to the season. I hope we play as well next season, and maybe some of the downcast hardcore supporters will want to come back.

........and so say all of us. Very well put. Mid-table finish beckoning, good run of results underway, good young players putting in performances - all we need now is some resurgent support, right ?

When I started the thread who would have known that it end up this long and this open hearted. Now it's my turn again.
Lets get this back to football, what happens behind the scenes does affect what the team can do on the pitch. And from rumours I've heard at the park recently there are some changes coming that may address some of the issues mentioned above. I live in hope.
Like too many years before I've persisted in attending as many games as I can, league and cup, home and away. Why? Because I support the team, next year I will not be going away as I can't see any point. With such poor away form you have to ask yourself why we don't travel well. The answer was on the TV yesterday in football focus, when discussing Liverpool the pundits acknowledged that unless Liverpool employ the same tactics away from home as they do at home they would never get closer to the top 2. This year has brought a new low in away performances with few points to compensate for the dire football. Why not go out to win and let's see some attacking entertainment, if we lose are we any worse, I would suggest not as it may actually produce some watchable football. Point to note I don't expect to see the Hill win every game but at least we should be trying to win every game.
At least if I don't go away then I can support the ressies and / or youth.

Well said TOM. The away performances were dire and we couldn't justify wasting so much of our time and money attending any more games. The lads can play good high tempo football but it just isn't consistent. Obviously the pitches don't help at this time of year and i hope ours is in a better condition for the start of next season than it has been since Roger stepped down from his groundsman position.

Yes ,Last two correspondents seem to sum up the mood for all but the die-hards.If your favourite band starting playing out of tune on a regular basis would you continue to support them.If things improved through whatever means then maybe your support would return. Of course supporters don't expect the team to win every game unless they have an exceptional season, and most teams have a stinker now and then. We might not pay mega bucks to watch a game but as one of the fairly regular home and away supporters ,until recently, the day out was not a cheap one. Train fares,a few (quite a few) amber nectars, something to eat, maybe a cab from a train station, raffle tickets etc could add up to a significant amount, and if the wife asks where the house keeping money has gone, duck quick when you tell her. Ok this is a little tongue in cheek but at the same time there's a lot of truth in my comments. To shell out hard earned money can only be justified if the manager and his team put in the commitment the supporters deserve.
