3-0 defeat.
When we arrived we heard that Andre had phoned in last night with flu, so our seventh keeper of the year Dave Soutar stepped in.
The team looked very overawed in the first half, no one looked up for a game. We had a couple of half chances the best was when Lloyd rose to meet a good cross but headed 3-4 inches over.
The first goal was one for what happened next, a soft shot bounced just in front of Dave and as he bent down it went straight through his legs. Even though we were not competitive we did not look that much behind them.
We started livelier in the second half, Leo was playing well (no, I do mean it) but he got subbed on the hour. The second goal came from a nothing tackle which gave them a free kick 25-30 yards out. Under no pressure Dave dived to his right to catch a simple free kick but it went under his arms for 2-0.
We actually started to play well at times, Mark Pullen who by anybodies standards was having a poor game caught hold of a through ball and went around a player and shot hard and low unfortunately the Met keeper got down and saved it on the line.
Their third goal and the only real one came in the last minute of the game, mid-field went to sleep and they piled everyone forward and after about 4 blocked shots it fell to the ex-Crawley striker Amoako who cracked an excellent shot for the third.
Accepting we had an off day, no goalie, no barmy army, only 109 crowd and a biting wind I still think we could have done better. It Met are third in the league then next year we must be top 8. Better if we can play to the end of the games, use width and get a recognised striker.
Hopefully we can get a team back into the County league reserves next year which will give us a second team, the luxury of a second goalie and the option to bring in some more young players which must be our future.
