A bit of a gutting result today considering the early dominance. I thought Hastings were very lucky to win the game, but I have to respect that the 10 minute period where they scored both the goals, they had worked hard for them. Their first goal was a bit of a corker as well!
The ref and linesmen were the usual poor standard. Not giving the penalty and a couple of handballs being the obvious errors.
On a bright note, I found the Hastings supporters to be very sporting and friendly. For that reason I hope they do well, perhaps even gain promotion (especially if they stop Dover's chances!). I can't see that they will be good enough to go up based on today's performance, but if they do I will be happy for them.

Could someone please explain to me why..
1. Dave Souter is sat on the bench, when he is possibly our best defender??
2. Michael Death is sat on the bench, when he has proven recently he knows exactly were the net is, while we a crying out for a goalscorer!! The kid is confident and hits piledrivers from anywhere! Know one else seems to do that??
3. We change formations around probably 3 times during the second half when looking reasonably comfortable??

Totally agree, the boy has plenty of confidence so just let him go out there and do the business. From what i've seen he doesn't need nurturing or protecting.

I thought the problem seemed to be that the Hastings manager reacted well to his players tiring on the heavy surface by bringing on fresh legs at exactly the right time. Croydon stood Michael Death up and then sat him back down again. Both goals went in while there were several knackered players on the pitch and by the time Croydon reacted to this with some fresh legs, the damage was done. Possibly not the only reason we lost, but a contributing factor in my opinion.

Agree totally with the initial post fom rwe.
It did not look good for us in the second half after having 7 good chances in the first half and no goal.
Ref, well at least the Hastings fans thought the same as us about him which shows he was rubbish and not biased.
Soutar and Death, totally agree. I would put Ashley and Luke wide to support him and use width. With Michell Day trying to get wide and Mark Pullen willing to run lets play to our strengths. If we have such good defenders let one of them play in front to breakdown the quick moves from others.
Hastings fans were a laugh and not cocky at the end, good luck.
I enjoyed the excitement of the first half so come on you yellows..............
This years over for us, were no going for promotion or relegation so I look to next year. A very young side which are developing well, just look at the side that started to day, we had Elkins, Death, Greatwich, Soutar all good prospects and some more choices. Good start and a cup run what a bonus, please.

I tell you what I miss, the FA Vase. That used to be the highlight of my season. A tournement genuinely as watchable and important as the league.
I suppose Sussex Senior Cup is the one to watch for next year. Crawley and Brighton only ever put out reserves, leaving Eastbourne and Worthing as the main threats. BHTFC and Hastings should be in amongst the top teams in that.
It's funny re: Hastings fans. I spoke to a friend of mine who follows Whyteleafe and he said he found Hastings supporters to really rub it in when they beat Leafe. The flipside was he said Dover fans were the nicest supporters he's seen this year. I suppose it goes to show there are 1 or 2 obnoxious fans following every club and you can be unlucky and just cop that flack.
