Martin. Re That Horsham twat giving you grief at the end. Overheard him in the clubhouse afterwards saying that Burgess Hill are such a nasty lot !!!!! As for the game 3 superb goals from Ashley Jarvis to secure a point against the high flying Hornets. We still look very fragile in defence but the boys battled hard and we looked good going forward.

Great result and we were actually unlucky not to sneak a win. Ashley got a deserved hattrick, his first for Burgess Hill and hopefully we can take our second half performance today into Saturdays home game against Croydon Athletic

Typical top of the table arrogance from their supporters-Hillians were good for the point-the ref was inconsistent but that averages itself out through a season. Thought the lads had a great spirit and determination-both back yards looked shaky-as the scoreline reflected.
Thouroughly deserved the point - some fine raw material there-gaz is right it just needs some experience to strengthen-good to see a few faces there

The Horsham twat just needed someone to shout at. He said the ref was a cheater I said the ref was a disgrace, so he kicked off for some reason. I just ignored him knowing he would go into the bar. The funny thing was he did not know if I was from Horsham or the Hill. I can understand why he's upset them playing the lowly Hill they must have had a party planned for after the game, then we come along and at times play football and make them pay. Then to add insult to injury the ref appears to them to be biased, could not see that myself, he let both sides get away with too much and then went card happy. Angry fan wants to come to the park to see poor reffing week after week.
Now back to the important stuff, I've been chatting to Ashley's dad over the last few months, he also has been telling Ashley to shoot more often, and also keep wide taking on the man and get in crosses. It was an excellent first goal so early in the match, the ball bounced forward between 2 burly defenders, Ashley pushed through them and touched the ball forward saw the approaching keeper and belted it low into the corner.
A bit later Ashley under pressure from a defender had the ball coming at him from the side on the floor. He flicked the ball over the approaching keeper but it went just over the bar. He tried this again in the second half and was closer, his third attempt dipped nicely under the bar. His hattrick was well recieved by the hill fans and this will boost his confidence for the rest of this season, pity its this late on.
Against a very physical Horsham midfield Gary played a 4-5-2, with the extra man in mid-field it relieved the pressure. With Leo, Elks and Herve all taking a lot of stick they did well and were not second best that often, lacked shape at times which Gary reminded them about.
Defence were pushed and pulled all over the place, only looked vunerable about four or times, the trouble with defence is that at this level the attack takes advantage. Same problem as before one attacker taking on the whole defence and getting in a shot. Sullivan made a couple of good saves but no real pressure most of the time. Sullivan was quiet and reluctant to come out early to do the sweeper thing which put more pressure on the defence who did not seem to know what he was going to do.
It would be easy to name Ashley as man of the match but there were many good team performances with Leo, Elks and Herve all battling away and providing some good short and long balls. Defence apart from their wobbles dealt with an attack that has managed over 2 goals a game and a team with a very healthy goal difference. This was definately a team result and a team award for man of the match would be the fairest. This is not a cop out but a reflection of a good day out in the sun.
Liked the new formation, movement off the ball, playing the mix of short and long ball, use of width.

What a great result. Was in Pompey so no chance of seeing game! have a mate who is a dyed-in-the-wool Horsham fan who really enjoyed the game and said Hill could have won it.
So great result and ignore the chump who has been mentioned above. Onward to next year - what a wierd year we've had!

Hopefully we can keep hold of Ashley for next season as he is being released by Brighton at the end of the season and with a few experienced heads I can see us doing ok next season if we play with the same determination as we did in the second half yesterday

Martin, that Horsham twat was one of the Maggs clan, son or son in law, I am endeavouring to find out. As for HFC I was quite disgusted at the hostility towards the officials and our dugout from their thuggish coaching staff. I clearly remember Maggsy, to his credit going over to GC to shake his hand and probably out of embarrassment to apologise for his assistants verbal diorrhea early into the game. On this performance HFC didn't live up to their sporting tradition. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that if the referee was to report the incident, whatever it was in their tunnell that HFC could suffer some form of punishment, maybe deduct points, wow!! wouldn't that piss on their parade but also wouldn't it be a shame.
To get back to the game, well we were very focused throughout the team with most of our problems coming from a couple of the younger players giving the ball away when it wasn't necessary to allow the opposition the opportunity, we played the ball across the park to our willing wide men of whom LG had there fullback Payney for breakfast, albeit i don't think he saw enough of the ball. MP needs to focus more on his own game and stop trying to referee games and also stop winding other players up,with the predictable histrionics that follow, he has got to start leading by example. LD was insatiable and his normal willing worker, HK was starting to show some of his old qualities but looks to be not fully fit, neverless watch him go on Saturday against his old club. PE was too wasteful on the day, probably the occassion got to him,he sometimes seemed to be trying too hard. The defense were on the day certainly no worse than their counterparts who are by all accounts one of the top two in the league. and for me KC was the p o t b. I honestly think our keeper doesn't command his six yard area and to be brutally honest might have made their third goal a bit harder for their number 5. AJ up front was electric on the day and whilst his hat-trick was somewhat fortuitous it was just reward for his energy and hunger on the day.
All in all a great result, a great performance, nice day out and almost a nice atmosphere. It speaks volumes that we went to the second team in the league, had a right go at them and made their so called star players look ordinary at times. It bodes very well for next season and hopefully some of the younger players will learn from the experiences they are being exposed to. My only reservation is that at this stage of their development, they should have some idea of when to release the ball and when to run with it.
Roll on Saturday.

After the game the ref and linesman - sorry, assistants.agreed to go outside with maggs warrilow and twatman to discuss aspects of the game. They were unable to get a word in and the ref was accused of being smug, at which point he told his assistants to follow him into the changing room to finish off their pints. It will be interesting if he ever gets to ref a Horsham game again.

That's the way to do it then - a revoluntionary new formation - and I quote ...... "Against a very physical Horsham midfield Gary played a 4-5-2, with the extra man in mid-field it relieved the pressure" I can see how it would make a significant difference! hee hee

Mike keep up mate I did realise my mistake unless of course we did cheat and post the correction above.
Orue - don't worry about the angry fan, I'm not. If by some fluke Horsham don't get promoted then I'll still be there and no doubt he will be as well. Only next year they'll take us seriously.
