Another good result, Croydon FC must have seen the last result and decided to take us seriously. They played a very tight game relying on a very mean defence (39 against before this game), nearly the best in the league.
This week we suffered from lapses but our defence kept enough pressure on them to keep the score down. Not sure if this was because Soutar came back for a cameo performance. All the normal defenders were playing, with Wattsy going forward into mid-field. Playing a 4-4-2 again.
We looked good when we kept the ball down and played football. I think someone must be reading my postings as I've asked recently for Soutar back, Wattsy in the mid-field and the use of width and pace to get forward. On the other hand it could be that with Leo and Lloyd injured Wattsy was the obvious choice to bolster a light weight middle.
The goal was either a delightful lob from the back of a crowded box or a desparate pass in hope of finding a willing Hillian head. I think it was the former as there were none of our players close to the target. Well done Ryan MacMillan for the result at both end.
We still give the ball away too easily, at this level we need to keep the movement so that there are easy options for the passer.
We did have chances and the substitutions were bold, taking off Phil Greatwich who was having a good game to search for a goal, Matten was also pulled off (In the nicest possible way) to chase a result.
Considering Croydon are a team in contention for the playoff's and have a lot to play for, were we that outclassed?
