"The next game will be down to earth and lets remember we will get no respect from the next opponents based on one result."
I wrote the above before the AFC Womble game and how true this was, down to earth with a bang.
1-0, out of the vase, and we deserved to lose.
The hard working defence kept the score down, and Andre made some good saves. The goal came from a hard low shot which Andre could only have seen very late as it came through a group of players.
Up front Budge and Ash had no decent service, only one decent cross in the whole game. Back to long ball. After halftime for about 10 minutes we kept the ball down and looked like getting a result but this faded and the long ball game emerged as the only way forward.
We lost the mid-field without a fight, no energy, no passion, etc, etc. Watsy had lost the plot in the first half and was getting more and more outragious and as soon as he raised his hand to push the defender we all knew he was off, having just had a booking for a series of comments and late tackles.
The Ryman North looks like a touch and fallover league and any contact was punished by the ref. I don't know how the Kent clubs would cope with so many being sent off in each game. This is no excuse for us losing.
The ref and officials could not be blaimed, even by RWE, for the result though a justified handball was not even considered but coming just after the most blatant dive by Sallis you can't blaim the the ref.
Don't understand the substitutions. WIth mid-field struggling he took of Ashley and moved Sean forward with Sallis coming on. Dan Turner came on for Joyce. Ashley was still trying and running his socks off trying to make something happen. Watts and gedling were obvious (well to me) candidates for substitution. Dan Turner did some great work compared to the rest but this was not hard.
Waltham are not that good we shouild have won this game easily.
Not happy!
